Boating Season Begins for 2011
To the owners of power boats and personal water craft:
It’s been quite a winter and with the recent positive break in the weather we can look forward to another great summer season at the Landings. As your Dock Master, attention must be given to highlighting certain procedures that need to be completed before any boat can be tied up at the dock.
- only unit owners can keep a boat at our docks. Slips cannot be assigned, loaned, or rented to friends, family, etc. which could affect coverage for everyone.
- The boat must have a current registration and valid insurance certificate in the name of the unit owner. Slips will only be assigned to title holders that comply.
- Boat slips will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis with the US postmark as the final authority.
- A decal permit will be issued and must be displayed on the boat’s windshield in a visible location so it can be readily viewed from the dock.
- Failure to observe the regulations will result in (1) fines as outlined in the condo association’s by-laws and (2) the boat being removed by the police at the owner’s expense. Compliance is necessary due to strict policies put forward by insurance carriers with marina insurance in particular becoming more difficult to obtain. PLEASE don’t jeopardize it!
A kayak/canoe storage rack is located at the rear of the clubhouse. According to the local officials, water craft can not be left on the walkways or surrounding areas of the docks at any time for safety reasons. Anyone who wishes to use the racks should contact the dock master for reservations. They will also be assigned on a first come/first serve basis. A ramp and floating dock are available for your use by the inlet closest to the barn.
It is also appropriate to offer a reminder about manners on the docks for everyone’s safety and comfort. Please be considerate of your neighbors when boarding on and off your boat. Noise carries and is amplified on the water; try to keep conversation to a minimum and from disturbing surrounding areas. Music from water craft should not be offensive to others when boats are docked. There should never be any playing on the docks at any time. Children under 14 are not allowed on the docks unaccompanied by an adult. After one warning fines will be imposed for those who do not comply. Remember, the summer is all too short, and as a condominium community of 50 owners, we all need to live in harmony.
Kindly forward registration and insurance papers to Henry Schnierer, 7 Twin Brook Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458 or unit 3015, or Dr. Tony Russo, unit 3016.
Happy Boating
